Ground handlingâs importance for aviation safety recognised with new rules: how EASA will support implementation
COLOGNE, March 07, 2025 â The safety of each flight starts on the ground, when the aircraft is serviced and fuelled, the cargo is loaded, and passengers are boarded. Over 300,000 people make sure that this is done safely on EU airports every day. The importance of ground handling services in ensuring safe flights has been recognised as the European Commission has published the first-ever ground handling safety regulations, bringing this area of aviation operations into the regulatory framework of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). -
How EASA certified Safranâs ENGINeUS 100 electric engine
COLOGNE, February 4, 2025 â Safran Electrical & Power was today awarded the first type certificate for an engine that complies with Special Condition SC E-19, the worldâs first Special Condition for electric and/or hybrid propulsion systems. The certification of the ENGINeUS writes the first lines of a novel propulsion story in aviation and simultaneously marks the successful conclusion of an eight-year journey from the perspective of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). -
